It’s quite fitting, I would think, that the first restaurant I visited in the New Year was one that had been the talk of the town for most of the previous year! Serving traditional Armenian cuisine right in the heart of the city, Lavaash By Saby has been garnering rave reviews ever since it opened a few months ago. To say that I was brimming over with curiosity to find out what the fuss was all about would be a gross understatement!
It was Saturday, the Fourth of July. My Twitter timeline & Facebook / Instagram feeds were heavily populated with updates on fireworks and parades, summer barbeques and picnics, and all manners of patriotic festivities from across the globe. Meanwhile, I was sitting holed up in my cubicle at work, feeling increasingly restless.
I first visited SodaBottleOpenerWala way back in February of this year when the new Cyber Hub eatery in Gurgaon was pretty much the talk of the town. My impression of the restaurant at that time was a mix of good and bad, which I wrote about here. While the décor and ambience certainly appealed to me, the food during that meal left much to be desired. I left that day, feeling that I wouldn’t be too keen to return, and I didn’t.
But then they went and opened another outlet in one of my favourite locations – Khan Market, and an invitation for the opening found its way into my Inbox.
Ask anyone in Delhi to suggest a good restaurant for an Al Fresco Italian meal in the city, and Tonino will usually, if not always, find its way on to the list. For 10 years, they’ve been providing us Delhi-ites with consistently good food in a gorgeous setting.
They now bring to us Caffe Tonino, a more relaxed and laid-back setting to its dignified Tuscan sibling on MG Road. Caffe Tonino recently opened its doors in Connaught Place (CP), right at the heart of our city.
Hao Shi Nian Niann is a speciality Chinese (Sichuan) restaurant located in the M-Block Market of Greater Kailash 2, and they are the latest to partner with GourmetItUp, a culinary web-portal that offers specially curated course meals to its members. I wrote all about GourmetItUp here in case you want to refresh your memory. You really should go sign up guys; they’re getting better day by day. A little birdie told me Olive just linked up with them as well (*does a little happy dance).
