It’s a little strange that Amalfi hasn’t found itself on any list of Delhi’s most romantic restaurants. Sure, making a mark amongst heavyweights such as Olive Bar & Kitchen, Lodi – The Garden Restaurant, and Sevilla – The Claridges is no mean feat, but within minutes of stepping onto the cobbled stone terrace of this South Delhi Restaurant, its discerning appeal was undeniable.
It’s quite fitting, I would think, that the first restaurant I visited in the New Year was one that had been the talk of the town for most of the previous year! Serving traditional Armenian cuisine right in the heart of the city, Lavaash By Saby has been garnering rave reviews ever since it opened a few months ago. To say that I was brimming over with curiosity to find out what the fuss was all about would be a gross understatement!
It was early evening by the time I reached Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport to catch my flight back to Delhi after a weekend in the wild. I was returning home after spending three days in a Luxury Eco-Resort on the outskirts of Satpura National Park in Madhya Pradesh, in a place so far out in the wilderness that there was no sign of mobile or data connectivity for miles on end. But with the excursions in to the jungle, and the supreme comfort as well as remarkable hospitality extended to us by The Forsyth Lodge; I didn’t mind being disconnected from the world even for one second.
It’s the last day of the year, and while I’m eagerly looking forward to ringing in the New Year in a few hours, with the midnight firecrackers that Ho Chi Minh City is so acclaimed for lighting up the sky above me, I can’t help but pause to reminisce and reflect on the year that has just flown by!
2015 was such a lovely year for me in so many ways. I have already highlighted some of My Favourite Things from the past year in a previous post, but if I was to be completely honest, the year’s biggest disappointment for me has been on the blogging front. I fell back in many ways. I haven’t been able to post half as often as I would like as life in the real world took over. But this is one thing I am most certainly looking at rectifying in the coming year!
But let’s wrap up the current year shall we, before we can look forward? So here’s a quick look at the past couple of months, flashed back through Instagram.
October – one of my favourite months in the year, and always the busiest!!!
This year, also the reason why things have been so utterly silent and forlorn here at Life On My Plate!
Clearly, I am seriously behind in my blogging updates!
The highlight for me in the month of September was our family holiday to Russia. I’ve already taken you through some of the best things about the trip in my Russia through Instagram post, but there was a bit more to the month as well!
So here’s a quick look at the month of September, flashed back through Instagram.
A young man, all of 18 years of age, decides to establish a start-up aimed at building India’s version of AirBnB. While building this company and working on this model, he travels across the country visiting and staying in over 100 bed-and-breakfast rooms. He discovers that what budget accommodation lacks in India is standardization. And an idea is born…!
August became the second month in 2015 without any travel materializing. The only consolation I had was the wee bit of travel planning I’ve been doing for my upcoming trip. My itchy feet have been acting up like no body’s business, and I can’t wait till Friday! But more on that in just a little bit!
Here’s a quick look at the past month, flashed back through Instagram.
It was Saturday, the Fourth of July. My Twitter timeline & Facebook / Instagram feeds were heavily populated with updates on fireworks and parades, summer barbeques and picnics, and all manners of patriotic festivities from across the globe. Meanwhile, I was sitting holed up in my cubicle at work, feeling increasingly restless.
It’s been 26 days since my last post; the longest I have ever gone, in my over two years of blogging, without something new coming out on LifeOnMyPlate!
Definitely not something I am proud of!
But with some disturbances and disruptions in life this past month, and some new travel planning that is turning out to be way more complicated than I had anticipated, penning down a post was the last thing on my mind. But more on that later…!
So while I head off to try and get my Blogging mojo back, here’s a quick look at the past month, flashed back through Instagram.
