On The Road in Iceland – Highlights from 7 days circumnavigating the Ring Road (Part 1)

On The Road in Iceland – Highlights from 7 days circumnavigating the Ring Road (Part 1)

Iceland is simply incredible…!

No amount of superlatives can do it justice, and even the most stunning of images pale in comparison to the sheer magnificence and diversity of the country’s raw natural beauty. Where else can you get drenched under a waterfall, stand gazing down into the sparkling waters of a volcanic crater lake, trudge across a glacier AND stroll across a beach, ALL IN THE SAME DAY!!!

Cruising Halong Bay in Vietnam

Cruising Halong Bay in Vietnam

To do, or not to do… That was the question!

We oscillated back and forth on this one quite a bit, I’ll be honest, whilst planning our Vietnamese Vacation over the Christmas and New Year holidays last year!

I was pretty convinced I wanted to visit Halong Bay but Arjun was refusing to buy into the idea. He doesn’t like a very hectic pace when he travels, and the 3-hour journey from Hanoi just for spending one night on-board a boat in a bay full of limestone karsts simply wasn’t appealing to him. “Didn’t we already do that in Thailand?” he said! And then we met friends who had some pretty nasty experiences to share from their trip a few years ago, and he almost had me convinced to let this one pass.

But I can be a pretty stubborn little lady, and fortunate as it was for me, this was one time he actually thanked me for being as annoyingly headfast and stubborn as I am.

Vignettes from Vietnam

Vignettes from Vietnam

Vietnam is a country I had looked forward to visiting for years and on Christmas last year, the much awaited trip commenced. Arjun and I had planned a 10-day holiday around the country, and while we were both pretty darn excited, I reckon that neither one of us had anticipated this would turn out to be one of our most memorable holidays till date!

In The Jungle… With Forsyth Lodge, Satpura

In The Jungle… With Forsyth Lodge, Satpura

It was early evening by the time I reached Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport to catch my flight back to Delhi after a weekend in the wild. I was returning home after spending three days in a Luxury Eco-Resort on the outskirts of Satpura National Park in Madhya Pradesh, in a place so far out in the wilderness that there was no sign of mobile or data connectivity for miles on end. But with the excursions in to the jungle, and the supreme comfort as well as remarkable hospitality extended to us by The Forsyth Lodge; I didn’t mind being disconnected from the world even for one second.

Russia through Instagram – A Photo Essay

Russia through Instagram – A Photo Essay

After successfully achieving my goal to #Take12Trips in 2014, I had decided to re-take the pledge and attempt to #Take12Trips in 2015 as well. Updates on my progress in 2015 have been few and far between, but that’s not to say I haven’t been making all attempts to achieve the goal this year. I’ve fallen behind on my blogging momentum and have a huge back-log of posts, but don’t worry, the #Take12Trips challenge remains high on my list of priorities.

I’ve taken 8 trips thus far and have one or two more potential travel plans later this year. I’ve had a few setbacks as well: June was the first month in over a year where I didn’t get to travel outside my city at all, and August became the second month in 2015 with no trips materializing. But following quickly on the heels of this disappointment came my biggest trip this year… one I had been planning for months!

Monthly Instagram Update – August 2015

Monthly Instagram Update – August 2015

August became the second month in 2015 without any travel materializing. The only consolation I had was the wee bit of travel planning I’ve been doing for my upcoming trip. My itchy feet have been acting up like no body’s business, and I can’t wait till Friday! But more on that in just a little bit!

Here’s a quick look at the past month, flashed back through Instagram.

Monthly Instagram Update – July 2015

26 Days…!
It’s been 26 days since my last post; the longest I have ever gone, in my over two years of blogging, without something new coming out on LifeOnMyPlate!

Definitely not something I am proud of!

But with some disturbances and disruptions in life this past month, and some new travel planning that is turning out to be way more complicated than I had anticipated, penning down a post was the last thing on my mind. But more on that later…!

So while I head off to try and get my Blogging mojo back, here’s a quick look at the past month, flashed back through Instagram.

Monthly Instagram Update – June 2015

Monthly Instagram Update – June 2015

June was a bit of a mixed bag for me…
There was a lot going on off the blog this past month: a hectic work schedule over the past so-many months culminated in a promotion that I was very glad for; and all the celebrations that came along with it were very welcome!
There was certain good news to be had on the Blog as well, but more on that in just a little bit!

But while there was ample cause to rejoice last month, June also became the first month in over a year that I did not travel outside of Delhi AT ALL. No work trip, no quick weekend getaway, nothing! So the #Take12Trips in 2015 challenge took a small hit. Luckily, I’ve got a few trips planned in the months to come, so I’m not beating myself up too much over it!

But here’s a quick look back at the past month, flashed back through Instagram.
