Russia through Instagram – A Photo Essay

After successfully achieving my goal to #Take12Trips in 2014, I had decided to re-take the pledge and attempt to #Take12Trips in 2015 as well. Updates on my progress in 2015 have been few and far between, but that’s not to say I haven’t been making all attempts to achieve the goal this year. I’ve fallen behind on my blogging momentum and have a huge back-log of posts, but don’t worry, the #Take12Trips challenge remains high on my list of priorities.

I’ve taken 8 trips thus far and have one or two more potential travel plans later this year. I’ve had a few setbacks as well: June was the first month in over a year where I didn’t get to travel outside my city at all, and August became the second month in 2015 with no trips materializing. But following quickly on the heels of this disappointment came my biggest trip this year… one I had been planning for months!

My Top 3 Travel Bucket List Destinations

My Top 3 Travel Bucket List Destinations

I’m going to be honest here, and just say it!
I DON’T HAVE A BUCKET LIST.

I haven’t pondered over the things I want to do before I die, or made a list of all the places I want to see before I kick the bucket. And for a change, it isn’t because I’m too lazy to make one, or because my ability to procrastinate is award-worthy.

I don’t have a Bucket List simply because I don’t want to limit myself!

I want to see everything there is to see; I want to do everything there is to do; and I want to go everywhere there is to go…!

Ambitious much?!

The Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad – Meant to Take Your Breath Away

The Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad – Meant to Take Your Breath Away

Recently coming into the limelight as the venue that hosted one of the most glittering and star-studded Bollywood weddings in recent times, The Taj Falaknuma Palace is a Heritage Luxury Hotel located in the city of Hyderabad, India. Superstar Salman Khan booked the entire hotel for his younger sister’s fairytale wedding, and if the afternoon I spent walking amidst the extravagance is anything to go by, I’m sure guests are transported into a bygone era while resting in the lap of luxury.

A Walk in the Ruins of the Golconda Fort

A Walk in the Ruins of the Golconda Fort

I visited the Indian city of Hyderabad a couple of months ago. It was my first trip to a city I had heard so much about. A city steeped in history, drenched in heritage and oozing culture at every turn. It was a friend’s wedding that finally took me to Hyderabad, but despite the limited time and packed schedule, I was determined to explore as much of it as I possibly could.

The History and Heritage of Hyderabad

The History and Heritage of Hyderabad

I’m on a quest to Take12Trips this year, and the challenge is in its final leg!!! 🙂

For Trip # 11 (Yay Me!), I flew to the city of Hyderabad in the last week of November, for another short weekend getaway. I was attending a friend’s wedding, so while most of my time in Hyderabad was spent at the festivities, there was no way I would be leaving without exploring at least some of the city’s many, many highlights.

5 Destinations I Would Love To Return To

5 Destinations I Would Love To Return To

193 UN-recognised countries in the world, not enough time to visit them all!
That’s the school of thought I usually subscribe to. Every time it comes to selecting a destination to visit, I usually tend towards someplace I haven’t been before.
New cities to visit, new sights and sounds to experience, new cultures to immerse myself in, new food to stuff my face with!

What I Ate in Singapore – A Photo Essay

What I Ate in Singapore – A Photo Essay

I’m on a quest to Take12Trips this year, and it’s going VERY well so far. 🙂

In January I visited Mumbai and in February I took another quick trip to Mussoorie; I explored the Delhi Zoo in March and had a fantastic time traipsing around Europe in April. In May I went off to Shimla up in the hills to escape Delhi’s unbearable heat and in June a work trip took me to Manila, Philippines. I then flew to New York City to spend 10 glorious summer days in July and August meandering around Manhattan and falling in love with Brooklyn. September had yet another trip in store!

Meandering around Manhattan with Walks of New York

I truly believe that the best way to experience a city, to really soak it up; is on foot. An aimless amble down an alleyway, or a saunter down a street; there’s nothing quite like the thrill of discovery in a new place.
